Ukraine: Russia used kamikaze UAV and cruise missiles in attacks on critical points

Donbass

Relations between Ukraine and Russia often have a complex and tense history. The two countries have historically been interconnected and also rivals. In Soviet times, Ukraine was considered part of the Russian Federation. However, after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Ukraine was recognized as an independent state.

In recent years, relations between Ukraine and Russia have become even more tense. The change of government in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, in 2014 and Ukraine’s orientation towards the EU and NATO increased the tension between Russia and Ukraine. The annexation of Krim Island by Russia in the same year further increased the tension between the two countries. Today, relations between Ukraine and Russia are still strained and currently in conflict.

Ukrayna Savunma Bakanlığı, Rus ordusunun bugün Ukrayna’nın kritik öneme sahip şehir ve tesislerine kamikaze insansız hava araçları (İHA) ve seyir füzeleriyle saldırılar gerçekleştirdiğini aktardı.

In a statement made by the ministry, it was announced that Russian military units carried out extensive attacks in Ukraine in the morning.

In the statement, which stated that critically important cities and facilities of Ukraine were attacked, the statement said, “7 Shahed-136/131 kamikaze UAVs from the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov and 6 Kalibr cruise missiles from a Russian ship in the Black Sea were used.”

In the statement, it was stated that the Ukrainian air force destroyed 5 missiles and 5 kamikaze UAVs with its own power and vehicles.

Stating that Russian forces dealt a heavy blow to Ukraine’s critically important cities and facilities with S-300 anti-aircraft missiles from the cities of Belgorod and Tokmak in Ukraine, the statement said, “The Russian army hit the Kharkov and Zaporozhye regions with 35 units that could not be destroyed in the air with the air defense system. As many as anti-aircraft guided missiles were launched,” the statement was used.

It was noted that around 08:30 local time, cruise missiles were launched with Tu-95MS strategic bombers.
