The United Kingdom is a highly-developed country with significant economic, political, scientific and cultural impact in the world, and has 2 universities ranked in the top 10.

Teaching method of British universities is different from the one in China. In China, one teacher typically teaches various classes, while in the UK, there are various tutors responsible for each course. After each major class, there will be a corresponding seminar (discussion class), and students need to check the information in advance and prepare the content.

Students’ homework has the form of report, essay, presentation and test. There are also various reading lists, which can be as short as tens of pages and as long as hundreds of pages.

Under such a strict education system, many talents in various fields around the world have been trained, such as Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, designer Jimmy Choo, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, and former American president

Second place: United States

As a North American country, the United States is the world’s most important economic and military power. Through its influence in music, film and television, it has spread its local culture to all parts of the world.

Similarly, the United States also has a number of top 10 universities in the world. There are 50 states and 1 special zone in the United States, and there are differences in customs, legal systems, and education. Among them, Massachusetts, New York and California have many world-renowned universities. (Massachusetts: Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, etc.; New York State: Cornell University, Columbia University, etc.; California: Stanford University, California Institute of Technology, etc.)

Third place: Canada

Canada occupies 2/5 of the North American continent and is the second largest country in the world after Russia. It is similar to the United States in that it is a federal country, and each province has jurisdiction over its own education. Therefore, the educational system varies from province to province. Québec’s elementary and middle schools are 11-years with pre-university courses, while other provinces have 12-years.

Although each province has its own system, the general policy is to attach great importance to education. Education accounts for a very large part of the fiscal expenditure of the Canadian government, and almost all universities are public universities.

Fourth place: Germany

German industry has always been known for its rigor and exquisiteness. Behind this reputation is Germany’s high-quality education system.

The concept of kindergarten was first introduced from Germany. German educator Friedrich Froebel created the world’s first kindergarten in 1840.

Higher education in Germany is divided into comprehensive universities, universities of applied sciences, art and music schools, and other special universities. Many of these universities are world-class universities such as the University of Munich, the Technical University of Munich, and Heidelberg University.

Fifth place: France

France is a romantic and exquisite country. The brightest aspect of its higher education is engineer education, which is an elite education model that originated in the Napoleonic era.

The faculty-student ratio of French engineering schools is about 1:6, while the ratio of comprehensive universities is 1:16. It can be seen from this that the students of engineering schools enjoy higher per capita funding.

The Ecole Polytechnique de Paris is one of the most famous engineering schools in France. It has its presence in the top of the rankings every year, and it has won the reputation of “the pride of France”.
