EARTHQUAKE WAS LAST MINUTE IN TURKEY, SERIOUS DAMAGE IN 10 CITIES

7.4 earthquake hit 10 provinces

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 occurred in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş. The intensity of the earthquake that took place at 04:17 in the morning also shook the surrounding provinces. Buildings were destroyed in Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Kilis, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Malatya and Hatay. According to preliminary information, 23 people in Malatya, 18 people in Şanlıurfa, 6 people in Diyarbakır and 7 people in Osmaniye lost their lives. Interior Minister Soylu said, “We have put forward a fourth level alarm. This is an alarm that includes international aid.”

According to the information on the website of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), the earthquake occurred at around 04:17 in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş.

The 7.4 magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 7 kilometers.

The shaking was felt in Kahramanmaraş as well as Gaziantep, Malatya, Batman, Bingöl, Elazig, Kilis, Diyarbakir, Mardin, Siirt, Sirnak, Van, Muş, Bitlis, Hakkari, Adana, Osmaniye and Hatay.
