1. The United States 250,000 kilometers
The U.S. railway has a mileage of more than 250,000 kilometers and is the world’s largest railway network. Freight lines account for most of the country’s total railways, accounting for 80%, and the total length of passenger railways is about 35,000 kilometers.
The U.S. freight railroad mileage consists of 538 railroads (7 first-class railroads, 21 regional railroads and 510 local railroads) operated by private organizations. The Indian railway mileage is divided into 17 regions, and more than 19,000 trains are operated every day, including 12,000 passenger trains and 7,000 freight trains. In 2017, 4,000 kilometers of new lines were added, and the existing aging lines were transformed and electrified on a large scale.
