Langholm youngsters enjoy unique football experience at Hearts vs Rangers
The Langholm Girls and Langholm Legion Juniors players received a morning of coaching before acting as flag bearers for the big match. The young people of Dumfriesshire had a unique football experience at the weekend.

Thirty players from Langholm Girls FC and Langholm Legion Juniors were given a capital day to remember at the Hearts match against Rangers at Tynecastle.The youngsters were given a morning coaching session with the Hearts coaches on the community pitch behind the Wheatfield Stand.

After lunch they sat in the stand and watched the Hearts team warm up before the match. As kick-off approached, children lined the pitch as flag bearers as the teams emerged from the tunnel.

he was taken out on the pitch in front of the crowd. After meeting with club officials and some players, the guys did a short lap of honor and left the field for the second half. To round off a great day, many of the boys were lucky enough to meet the Hearts players after the game. “The girls have only been training for less than a year and now we have teams in U10, two teams in U12 and a U14 team and these experiences inspire and motivate them to keep playing.

“A huge thank you to the Heart of Midlothian Community Coaching and Football Development Team and the club for providing this experience, their coach who was fantastic and all the parent assistants who helped on the day.”

Twenty-three teenagers from the girls’ team and seven boys from Langholm Legion Juniors enjoyed the match-day experience.
